Peter has worked in the legal profession since the 1970s, with a stint at the employment coalface as an industrial advocate in the 1980s. He returned to the practice of law in 1990 and established Cullen – The Employment Law Firm in 1994 and continues to direct it as a partner. Peter convened the Wellington District Law Society Employment Law Committee from its inception until 2004. Peter was a member of the New Zealand Law Society Employment Law Committee for six years from 2011 until 2017. Peter regularly presents at seminars and conferences on employment law. He was Chair of the 2016 Employment Law Conference. He is a frequent commentator to the media on employment and industrial law issues and has been a columnist for the Dominion Post for many years. Peter recently stepped down as the President of the Wellington Employers’ Chamber of Commerce. He is the Honorary Consul for Colombia.
