Blair Keenan is the Principal Economist for the Waikato Regional Council, providing economic advice across a wide range of local government and resource management issues. As part of his role, he also works as an advisor to Te Waka – the new economic development agency for the Waikato region. He began his career with the ANZ Bank in 1994, working as a macro-economist and industry analyst, before heading overseas as a researcher for Japan’s External Trade Organisation in the UK and an economist for the National Farmers’ Union of England and Wales. He has also held senior policy roles with the Department of Internal Affairs and Housing New Zealand, and has degrees from the University of Otago and the University of London.
