Freight Futures 2030

Shaping New Zealand’s logistics and supply chain for a sustainable future

  • Government regulations and polices
  • Featured speakers
  • International keynote

“Getting freight right, matters” – these words as said by MP Michael Wood (with direction from Hon. Phil Twyford) set the scene for the two days of the Freight Futures 2030 Conference.

Chaired by Rod Oram, the conference started off with discussions around the priorities for New Zealand’s transport sector, followed by the Government Policy Statement delivered by Ministry of Transport and discussions on the National Land Transport Fund put forward by NZTA.

The Leaders’ Panel facilitated important conversations around the infrastructure in New Zealand. The delegates also got an international perspective from Kevin Gunn, the GM Supply Chain at Coles in Australia. He talked about the constantly changing and evolving consumer trends i.e. from doing a big weekly shop to shopping more frequently and what this means for supply at Coles.

There were also presentations by KiwiRail, Mainfreight and Maersk Line Oceania that were put forward.

Whilst the focus across the two days was heavy on technology, delegates got the opportunity to get amongst the discussions on how freight movement is changing across New Zealand and what’s to come in the future.
