Brigadier (Rtd) Charles Lott was born in January 1959 and was educated at Cashmere High School, New Zealand. He enlisted into the New Zealand Army in January 1978 and served in a number of tactical and operational logistics units and headquarters throughout his 37 year military career as a defence logistician. He has seen operational service with the New Zealand Contingent, Multinational Force and Observers (MFO), Sinai, as the Liaison Officer and the United Nations Operations in Somalia (UNOSOM), as a Logistics Operations Senior Staff Officer. In 1999 he was responsible for the logistics planning, preparation and execution for the New Zealand Defence Force’s contribution to intervention in Timor Lesté for which he was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2001. Brigadier (Rtd) Lott is a graduate of the Australian Command and Staff College and is a Fellow of the Australian College of Defence and Strategic Studies. He holds a Masters of Business (Integrated Logistics Management) and a Masters of Defence and Strategic Studies, is an Associate Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management, is a graduate of the Stanford – National University of Singapore Executive Programme In International Management and holds a Certificate in Company Direction. He retired from uniformed service in October 2015 to assume his current appointment as Chief, Joint Defence Services, having served previously at a senior executive level as Director, Resources Policy and Programmes, Director Logistics Development, Deputy Chief of Army and Commander Defence Logistics Command.
Chief Executive (Acting)
Todd Moyle is the Acting Chief Executive of KiwiRail stepping up from his role as Chief Operations Officer leading the operational areas of KiwiRail - Network Services, Rolling Stock Asset Services, Rail Operations and Train Control. Previously the Group General Manager of Network Services for KiwiRail's 'below rail' network of track, bridges and tunnels and the engineering function, Todd has spent more than 15 years in the construction and operation of rail networks across New Zealand and the United Kingdom including as Design Manager in the London Underground. He has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Canterbury.
