Brake, the Road Safety Charity
Caroline has worked for Brake for over 7 years and is responsible for the development of Brake in New Zealand including establishing Brake’s initiatives such as Road Safety Week and support resources for road crash victims, delivering services to fleets through Global Fleet Champions, and building relationships with corporate partners and road safety-related agencies. She has previously worked for Brake in the UK as Events and Marketing Manager within the professional engagement division, with responsibility for services to fleet, road safety and support professionals, including delivery of events and training courses on key fleet safety topics, development of guidance and information for fleet members, and leading on marketing for all of Brake’s services. Other previous experience has included management of road and fleet safety projects and events, supporting social entrepreneurs to develop their social enterprises, and project management of community volunteering and development projects. Her background is in media, project and events management and marketing. She is passionate about fleet safety and sharing road risk management best practice with organisations that employ at-work drivers, along with road safety and sustainability, in particular measures that will create safer, more liveable communities and encourage more people to travel by sustainable and active transport. Brake is a road safety charity working to prevent road deaths and injuries and support people bereaved and injured in crashes. Brake runs awareness-raising campaigns, community education programmes, coordinates national Road Safety Week and runs Global Fleet Champions, a free membership service sharing best practice with fleet professionals. We also provide free support to families bereaved in road crashes. For more information visit www.brake.org.nz and www.globalfleetchampions.org. Brake has joined with other organisations in NZ including Cycling Action Network, Living Streets and NZ School Speeds to create a campaign for Vision Zero, calling for this approach to road safety to be implemented in order to reduce the rising number of road deaths and create safe and liveable communities.
