Building, Designing & Maintaining Modern Schools & Facilities
Creating 21C learning environments to enhance New Zealand’s education outcomes
The inaugural Building, Designing & Maintaining Modern Schools & Facilities conference was held on the 28th of July at the Ellerslie Event Centre in Auckland. The conference was focused on providing insights on school rebuild/refurb projects. The Government had announced in late 2019, that they were to invest $400m into school infrastructure upgrade.
The highlights of the day included sessions from:
- Maurie Abraham who represented Hobsonville Point Secondary Schools and talked a little about how they are using their learning spaces and how their teaching methods have been evolving over the years to be more student led rather than teacher led
- Liz deKort from Rubix who gave a glimpse into the role of a Project Manager in such projects and directed delegates to some helpful links they can access to get more clarity as they start their journey on such projects
- Our speakers from Christchurch – Peggy Burrows and Sue Hume, who gave us different perspectives on their respective schools
We look forward to hosting the second iteration of the conference. If you’d like to connect regarding this event, please touch base with Mili Goswami ([email protected]).
