Certified Occupational Hygienist and Immediate Past President New Zealand Occupational Hygiene Society Derek has worked in the field of environmental and occupational hygiene for over 30 years. He is member of the HASANZ Governance Group and has sat on a number of working groups to improve occupational health in New Zealand. He is also a member of the Board for the Asian Network for Occupational Hygiene (ANOH) and a founding director of the newly formed Facility of Asbestos Management of Australia and New Zealand (FAMANZ).

Sean Brady is a forensic engineer and analyst who works with business, government and the legal sector to understand and resolve complex issues that typically require a systems thinking approach. Sean has just completed the Brady Review, an investigation into the causes of fatalities in the mining industry in Queensland, Australia. This review analysed 20 years of incident and fatality information, was data driven, and culminated in 11 recommendations for both industry and the regulator on how to lower the fatality and incident rate. Sean speaks, podcasts, and writes about failure, human behaviour, data analytics and engineering disasters. He has also acted as an expert witness on numerous occasions.

Barry is a familiar figure throughout the international Responsible Care® community. He is a Board member of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA), Vice President of the Asia Pacific Responsible Care Organization (APRC) and leads a association proactive in the global 65 member Responsible Care Leadership Group. As Chair of the ICCA Capacity Building Taskforce, Barry is driving the establishment of Responsible Care® associations throughout the world, delivering chemical safety advice and training to governments and industry, particularly in Africa, in collaboration with UN Environment and national business association initiatives. New Zealand is presently mentoring new Responsible Care® associations in Sri Lanka, Croatia and Kenya. Barry is a regular media commentator and advocate for workplace chemical safety.
